For over a year, the mission of the AIHM has been to identify those who stand out among the 240 food establishments in the Principality, and to label them with the new 'Artisan du Gout' award.

"What we want is to recognise professionals who make a particular effort and stand out for the quality of their work," said vice-president of the AIHM, Francis Poidevin. "And customers will actually find good restaurants at all prices in Monaco; it is not a label exclusively for the most expensive restaurants."

Once a restaurant has been put forward for the label, the AIHM sends a 'mystery diner' to the venue to asses if it is eligible. The products used, the relationship with customers, health, safety and cleanliness are all considered. The assessing panel has been composed of Michelin star chefs, alongside chefs from traditional restaurants who then decide if the venue should be labelled 'Artisan du Gout'.

So far thirteen restaurants have already been awarded with the new label: Le Loga, La Merenda, Le Quai des Artistes, Michelangelo, Novotel Café, Horizon, La Piazza, Le Vistamar, L'Intempo, Le Petit Bar, Huit et Demi, Bella Vita, Sans Souci.
