The recent rumours have been confirmed and Prince Albert of Monaco has now been to visit the house that he recently purchased in the USA; the Kelly family home in East Falls, Philadelphia.

Originally built by John B Kelly Senior, the Colonial-style house was the childhood home of American actress Grace Kelly, who would later become Princess of Monaco after her fairytale wedding to Prince Rainier III. In fact, the house is actually where Prince Rainier is said to have proposed to the actress. An iconic photo of the couple depicts them showing the engagement ring to her mother and father in the family's living room.

Prince Albert visited the house during a recent trip to the USA and it is thought that much of the discussions that took place with his cousin, John B. Kelly III, were about how to best renovate and use the property. It's possible the home could house the US branch of the prince's charitable foundation, although it's also possible it could be used, at least in part, to showcase to the public things that were of interest to Princess Grace.

“I’m very happy to have saved this old family home from a near certain death or development,” the prince told People magazine. He also went on to say that he has fond memories of visiting the home when he was a child and he hopes to share those memories with his own children.
