White-out in Monaco for first 'Nuit Blanche'
All-night summer arts festival comes to Monaco for the first time
Cities across the world have been pulling 'all-nighters' since the original festival in St Petersburg in 1993. The White Nights Festival was created by the mayor of St Petersburg as a series of artistic and cultural events hosted during the summer months.
Nowadays they are all-night arts festivals which are popping up in cities such as Paris (Nuit Blanche), Tel Aviv, Melbourne, Toronto, Chicago, Lima and Halifax. For the first time Monaco will join this list and host their very own 'Nuit Blanche' on 29th April 2016.
A nocturnal, multi cultural and multi discipline event, it will take place in venues across the principality from churches and museums to parks and street corners. Advertised as a visual and musical journey, choreographic between heaven, earth and sea, the programme has been designed by the art critic and author, Jörg Heiser.
During the night you can stroll through the streets and find a world full of surprises and unique aesthetic experiences. The works or experiences will be produced by a selection of international artists in partnership with the Monegasque cultural institutions. This unique programme of contemporary art works, events and performances will create an unusual and thrilling night in Monaco.
As if we needed another excuse to stay up all night in Monaco!
